Two schoolgirls drown in Shibchar

The dead are Atika Akter, 13, and Jannat Akter, 14. However, their 12-year-old cousin Labiba Akter could be saved but she had to take admission in a hospital in an injured condition.

The tragedy occurred around 3 PM at Balakandi village under Pacchar Union. It has been reported that Atika had reached there from Dhaka with her parents the previous day and after that, she had come to visit her maternal grandfather’s place along with her two cousins. While taking bath in the pond, they drowned.

It was reported by a local resident and after that, residents rescued them and rushed them to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex. 

The doctors declared Atika Akter and Jannat Akter dead while Labiba Akter is now taking treatment in the hospital. Dr Sabuj Khan of the hospital confirmed the information.
