A Dhaka court on Sunday sent two women to jail after showing them arrested in an Anti-Terrorism Act case filed six months ago.
Suma Barol alias Dolly and Jannatul Ferdous alias Jannat were arrested on Saturday night while visiting Dhanmondi 32 to pay tribute to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain rejected their bail petitions and ordered them sent to jail.
Police produced the women before the court in connection with a case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station on February 27 under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
According to the case documents, 20�"25 leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Mohila Awami League had gathered on Dhanmondi Road 3 with banners and placards. Police later detained several people following a tip-off and filed the case.
The two women were subsequently shown arrested in the case and remanded to jail.
