Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government will not take any action based on a speculative report regarding Al-Qaeda’s activities in Bangladesh.

Speaking about a recent UN Security Council report expressing concern over Al-Qaeda's activities in Bangladesh, he said he had not read the report yet. According to information published in the media, the report may contain some observations or assumptions.

The Home Minister made the remarks while answering questions from journalists after a meeting of the committee reviewing the report of the Bangladesh Judicial Service Pay Commission, 2025, and preparing recommendations.

The meeting was held at the Finance Ministry meeting room at the Secretariat on Monday (August 17).

Recently, media reports said that a UN Security Council report had expressed concern over Al-Qaeda's activities in Bangladesh. The report was also said to have mentioned attempts by the organisation to establish permanent bases and secret cells in the country.

Asked about the report, Salahuddin Ahmed said he had heard about it but had not read it. He said there might be some observations in the report, but he could not give details without seeing it.
