Argentina will face Benin early Wednesday morning Bangladesh time in what is expected to be Lionel Messi’s final match for the national team.
Benin defender Mohamed said he was thrilled to be part of the historic occasion.
“We are very happy to be here for his final match. Before coming here, we only knew Messi, the best player in the world. This will be a very special match for me,” he told Argentine newspaper Ole.
Mohamed said enjoying the occasion was more important than preparation.
“There is nothing to prepare for this match. We are just going to enjoy it,” he said.
However, he is determined to get Messi’s jersey. “I will get the jersey, I swear on my mother. I will tell him, ‘Messi, I love you so much. Give me the jersey.’”
Benin have already arrived in Buenos Aires for the farewell match. The two sides will meet at the Monumental Stadium.
