Two people were severely injured when a private car lost control and slammed into a guardrail on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway in Munshiganj.
The accident occurred around 6:00 AM on Wednesday in the Sholaghar Bus Stand area of Srinagar upazila along the Mawa-bound lane.
The injured were identified as Surid Shahriar, 27, and Sakib Shahriar, 28, both residents of the Science Lab-Dhanmondi area in Dhaka.
Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, said two units from Srinagar Fire Station rushed to the spot after receiving the news.
The car was heavily damaged after hitting the railing, leaving two occupants trapped inside with severe injuries.
Firefighters rescued the injured individuals and sent them to Srinagar Upazila Health Complex by ambulance. Duty doctors provided initial treatment and later referred them to a hospital in Dhaka for advanced care.
Fire service and local sources said the car was traveling from Dhaka to Mawa with three people aboard, including the driver.
Initial reports suggest the driver lost control due to speeding, causing the vehicle to crash. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
