13 shops gutted in Fakirhat fire

FAKIRHAT, BAGERHAT, Aug 19: A massive fire has gutted 13 shops in Faltita Bazar in Fakirhat Upazila of the district early Wednesday.
 
Fire service and locals said that the fire started at around 3:30 am from a shop in the market. Within moments, the fire spread to nearby shops. Upon receiving the information, a team of Fakirhat Fire Service went to the spot and started working to control the fire.

The fire was brought under control after about two hours.

Affected traders Arif Sheikh, Md Bakkar, Nimai, Roop Saha and others claimed that the fire caused a loss of about Tk 30 lakh.

Officer-in-Charge of Fakirhat Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Md Shahjahan Mia said the fire may have started from an electrical short circuit. Upon receiving the information, they rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after about two hours of effort.
