France, Switzerland congratulate Mirza Fakhrul on election as president

The French and Swiss embassies in Dhaka have congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as Bangladesh’s president.

The embassies posted messages on their respective verified Facebook pages on Thursday night.

The French Embassy congratulated Fakhrul and praised his long contribution as a senior politician to Bangladesh’s democratic journey. It also said France remains committed to strengthening and deepening the long-standing friendship and bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Swiss Embassy also congratulated Fakhrul, saying Switzerland looks forward to further strengthening its bilateral relations with Bangladesh as a long-standing partner.

Earlier, the Chinese Embassy and British High Commission in Dhaka also congratulated Fakhrul on his election.
