Malaysia’s Selangor Immigration Department detained 112 migrants, including 87 Bangladeshis, during raids on several establishments in Kajang.
The raids were conducted on Wednesday under four operations involving 20 immigration officers. Authorities checked the documents and immigration status of 114 migrants and detained 112 for alleged violations of immigration laws.
Selangor Immigration Department Deputy Director (Enforcement) Mohammad Khusairi Kamaruddin said the detainees included 87 Bangladeshis, 13 Indonesians, five Myanmar nationals and seven Pakistanis. They comprised 98 men and 14 women, aged between 14 and 52.
Initial investigations found alleged violations of Malaysia’s Immigration Act 1959/63, including staying without valid documents or passes and overstaying expired permits.
The detainees were taken to an immigration office for further investigation and legal action, the department said.
