BNP to Distribute Leaflets Nationwide to Raise Dengue Awareness

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has decided to distribute dengue prevention leaflets across the country, including Dhaka, to raise public awareness about the mosquito-borne disease.

The leaflets will be prepared with recommendations from renowned doctors and health experts and distributed among people as part of the party’s awareness campaign.

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi disclosed the decision after a meeting of the party’s National Standing Committee, chaired by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, at the chairman’s office in Gulshan on Saturday (Seotember 12) night.

Rizvi said the meeting discussed the government’s dengue prevention measures and thanked Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for the initiatives taken to contain the outbreak.

He said arrangements have been made to supply mosquito nets to hospitals at district and upazila levels. The party will also support government efforts to involve voluntary organisations, Girl Guides, Scouts, students and people from different professions in dengue prevention activities.

Awareness programmes will also be promoted through social media, radio and television, with repeated broadcasts to inform people about preventive measures, he said.

Rizvi urged schools, colleges, madrasas and market committees to ensure that waste is disposed of at designated places, warning that scattered waste is contributing to the spread of Aedes mosquitoes. The BNP may monitor such activities at the local level, he added.
