Selling fertilisers to farmers at fair prices underscored

GAIBANDHA, Aug 21: Speakers at a meeting here on Thursday underscored the need to sell chemical fertilisers to farmers at government-fixed prices to help them produce agricultural crops without hassle.

“The supply of fertilisers should be ensured to farmers at all costs so that they do not face shortages during crop production,” the speakers said.

They made the remarks at an opinion-exchange meeting between the Sadullapur Upazila Administration and fertiliser dealers at the upazila administration’s conference room on Thursday afternoon.

The upazila agriculture office organised the meeting to ensure a smooth supply of fertilisers to farmers throughout the year.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Raojatun Jannat attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Upazila Agriculture Officer Apurba Bhattacharjee presided.

Assistant Commissioner Jashimuddin, Additional Agriculture Officer Sazzad Hossain, Sub-Assistant Plant Protection Officer Abdur Rab, and fertiliser dealers Awlad Hossain and Akkas Ali, among others, spoke at the meeting.
