Local residents detained two Rohingya teenagers in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali after they left the Kutupalong camp in Cox's Bazar for a visit.
The duo was detained on Saturday (August 2) at around 8:00 PM at the Bhuiyanarhat Bazar area of Char Jabbar Union in the upazila.
The detainees are Md Ismail, 17, son of Abdur Rahman of B-Block in Camp No. 17 of Kutupalong Rohingya Camp, and Numina Khatun, 16, daughter of Jafar Ahmed of the same block.
Locals said Ismail and Numina came to Subarnachar from the Cox's Bazar camp for a trip. Local residents interrogated them on Saturday night after their movements raised suspicion. At one stage, they identified themselves as husband and wife.
Later, when they went to purchase bus tickets to leave the area, locals detained them again and informed the police. Officers from Char Jabbar Police Station arrived at the spot and took them into custody.
Rafiqul Hasan, Officer-in-Charge of Charjabbar Police Station, said the detainees will be sent back to the Cox's Bazar Rohingya camp on Sunday morning through legal procedures following primary interrogation.
