Granddaughter pregnent; violated by grandfather in India

Police in Uttar Pradesh, India, have arrested a 70-year-old man for allegedly raping his own granddaughter.
The man was arrested on Saturday (August 22).
Hathras district police said, "the teenage girl who was allegedly raped by her maternal grandfather is now around two and a half months pregnant.
According to police, the girl alleged that her grandfather had been sexually abusing her for nearly three months, resulting in her pregnancy. The motherless girl lives with her father and maternal grandfather.
The girl told to the police, "whenever her father left home for work, her grandfather would take advantage of being alone with her and sexually assault her. She alleged that the abuse had been taking place since June 20."
The girl was taken to a doctor on Saturday after experiencing abdominal pain. Medical examinations revealed that she was pregnant.
Circle officer Amit Pathak said, "the girl was sent to the district hospital for medical examinations, where it was confirmed that she was around two and a half months pregnant. Her grandfather was arrested the same day."
