Rockstar Games is facing renewed pressure ahead of the release of the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) after several gameplay videos were leaked online.
According to Forbes, a group called CyberLeaks has been releasing footage of the game and has now published its seventh video. The latest clip reportedly shows protagonist Jason robbing two gas stations before being chased by police. After his car crashes, the footage switches to slow motion. The video ends with Jason entering a strip club, although scenes from inside the club were not shown.
The leaked video reportedly carries a watermark threatening to release footage from inside the club if the group’s meme coin reaches a market capitalisation of $3 million. Forbes reported that the leaks appear to be linked to the group’s promotion of the cryptocurrency.
Take-Two Interactive, GTA 6’s publisher, has reportedly sought help from Microsoft and Discord to identify those behind the leaks and prevent further distribution. The company also took legal action over the leaks in a New York court on Friday.
Rockstar has not publicly commented on the leaked footage.
The latest leak comes after more than 18 months since the release of GTA 6’s most recent trailer. Rockstar recently announced plans to unveil an extended look at the game through a special Netflix event, making the latest leaks an additional challenge for the company ahead of the game’s release.
