A Dhaka court has set September 24 for a hearing on charge framing against former law minister Anisul Huq in an arms case filed with Banani Police Station.
Dhaka Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Moin Uddin Chowdhury fixed the date on Sunday after defence counsel Md Suman Hossain sought time to obtain case documents.
According to the case, Anisul allegedly failed to surrender a firearm registered in his name within the deadline set by the government after the suspension of firearm licences issued for personal security. Police filed the case against him on May 24 under Section 19(1) of the Arms Act.
Anisul was arrested on August 13, 2024, from the Sadarghat area while allegedly attempting to flee by water. He has remained in custody since then.
