Dear Sir,
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role in Bangladesh’s economy by creating employment, supporting local communities and encouraging entrepreneurship. However, many small businesses struggle with limited access to finance, rising operating costs, regulatory difficulties and inadequate technological resources.
Access to finance remains a major challenge. Many entrepreneurs with promising ideas find it difficult to obtain bank loans because of collateral requirements, complicated procedures and inadequate financial records. Meanwhile, rising costs of raw materials, transportation and rent add to their difficulties.
Digitalisation has created opportunities through online marketplaces, digital payments and social media marketing. Yet many entrepreneurs lack the skills and resources to benefit fully from these technologies.
Banks and financial institutions should therefore offer simpler financing options, while government agencies should reduce unnecessary regulatory barriers. Training in digital marketing, e-commerce and financial management could also improve competitiveness. Supporting SMEs means investing in employment, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic growth.
