Libraries Can Revive the Reading Habit

Dear Sir,

The growing dependence of young people on digital devices has become a grave concern. Many students now spend much of their leisure time gaming, using Facebook, YouTube and other digital platforms, leaving little time for reading books or engaging in thoughtful activities.

In this situation, open and accessible libraries can play an important role in encouraging students to read. Every educational institution should have a well-equipped library where students can spend their free time productively and enjoy a peaceful environment outside the classroom.

Libraries should offer a diverse collection of interesting and educational books to spark curiosity and encourage learning. Comfortable seating, adequate lighting, sufficient space and a welcoming atmosphere can also make these spaces more appealing to students.

I strongly believe that educational institutions should prioritise well-equipped libraries, while more public libraries should be established in local communities. Such initiatives can nurture a knowledgeable, thoughtful and progressive generation.
