The Directorate of Madrasa Education has instructed all government and MPO-listed private madrasas across Bangladesh to organize special programs marking Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The directive was issued to observe Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi 1448 Hijri with due respect and solemnity.

An official order signed by Md Shamil Islam Pramanik, deputy director (administration) of the Directorate of Madrasa Education, was issued on Monday (August 24).

According to the directive, principals, superintendents and heads of Ebtedayee madrasas at all government and MPO-listed private madrasas have been asked to follow the instructions properly. District education officers and upazila secondary education officers have also been assigned to oversee the implementation of the decision at the field level.

The directive requires all madrasas to organize special discussions and prayer gatherings on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In addition, madrasas have been instructed to arrange Hamd and Naat performances, recitations of original poetry and cultural competitions focusing on themes such as peace, progress, harmony, tolerance, universal brotherhood, human rights and the dignity of women in Islam.

They have also been asked to organize quiz competitions based on the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The Directorate of Madrasa Education issued the directive following instructions from the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the Ministry of Education.

On August 23, the Technical and Madrasa Education Division issued a letter, signed by Dr. Md Monirul Islam, instructing all educational institutions under its jurisdiction to organize programs marking Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

The latest directive was issued in line with decisions taken at an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by the secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on August 13.
