Opposition told to keep away from violent protest

This call for restraint was made during a meeting held yesterday at the residence of the Jamaat Amir and Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman in Minto Road.

Golam Parwar said the editors advised the opposition to go to streets when necessary regarding public demand, but through legal and constructive ways.

He said the meeting also dealt with the activities of the opposition in Parliament, verdict on the referendum, situation of Bangladesh as well as its geo-political condition and relations with neighboring countries.

The editors commended the policy of Jamaat of cooperating with the government for public interest but being opposed where it goes against the public will, he further said.
