Bangladesh received US$990 million in remittances during the first 10 days of October, equivalent to more than Tk 12,177 crore at an exchange rate of Tk 123 per dollar, according to Bangladesh Bank data.
The central bank’s latest report, released on Sunday, showed that expatriates sent the amount between October 1 and 10.
Of the total, US$217 million came in during the three days from October 8 to 10.
During the same period last year, Bangladesh received US$944 million in remittances.
Overall, the country received US$9.581 billion in remittances from July to October 10 in the current fiscal year, up from US$8.53 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
The figures represent year-on-year growth of 12.3 per cent.
