‘Ebong Boi’ announces book review competition 2026

Book magazine Ebong Boi has announced the second edition of its book review competition. The competition is open to Bangladeshi citizens of any age, starting from HSC students. Participants can review one of two selected books and submit their entries by 25 September 2026.
The selected books for this year’s competition are Bangla Sahityer Prothom Kalpobigyan Lekhok Begum Rokeya, an essay, and Alo Chhayar Khela, a novel. Both books were written by author and scientist Ashraf Ahmed and published by Agamee Prakashani.
Participants have to write their reviews in Bangla. The review must be between 1,200 and 2,000 words. Participants may use quotations from the book, but they are expected to use them in a reasonable and limited way.
The review must include the writer’s full name, address and mobile phone number at the end. Previously published writings will not be accepted. The organisers have also discouraged the use of AI in the submitted reviews.
Entries must be prepared in Microsoft Word using the SutonnyMJ font. They should be sent to [email protected] by 25 September 2026.
A total of 10 reviewers will receive prizes. For each of the two books, there will be a first prize of Tk 10,000, a second prize of Tk 5,000 and a third prize of Tk 3,000. Four more selected reviewers will receive Tk 2,000 each.
The top 10 reviewers will also receive books worth Tk 1,000 each. Five winners will be selected for each book.
A jury board will assess the submitted reviews and select the winners. The prizes will be handed over at an event in Dhaka.
The organisers said their decision on all matters related to the competition will be considered final.
