PBI finds no evidence of fraud, breach of trust allegations against Tanjin Tisha

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has found no evidence to substantiate allegations of fraud, breach of trust and threats against actress and model Tanjin Tisha in a case filed by fashion designer Ayesha Anum Fayzah Sanaya.

PBI Sub-Inspector Md Jahangir Alam, the investigation officer in the case, submitted the investigation report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka on May 25. The court has fixed September 9 for a hearing on the report before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah.
According to the investigation report, Sanaya and Tisha had a friendly relationship as they participated in various fashion and award programmes and travelled together. Sanaya, who designs clothes for models and celebrities, had given Tisha a sari through her former driver on December 13, 2024, for use at a programme.

The report said Sanaya later contacted Tisha through Facebook Messenger seeking the return of the sari. A review of screenshots of their Messenger conversations showed that Tisha had not seen the earlier messages, according to the investigation. The two also exchanged greetings on Pahela Baishakh on April 14, 2025, and met at an award programme on May 18, where they exchanged pleasantries.

The matter later led to a disagreement between the two over the sari and comments concerning Sanaya’s fashion house. On November 5, 2025, Sanaya again messaged Tisha asking her to return the sari. Tisha reportedly asked which sari she was referring to and, after receiving its photograph, said she would check with her former driver.

According to the PBI report, Tisha told investigators that she had previously taken other saris from Sanaya and returned them without receiving payment. She said she had eventually forgotten about the sari in question and that her former driver had left his job without returning it. She later attempted to obtain Sanaya’s address through different channels so that the sari could be returned.

The report said Tisha eventually sent the sari back by post on March 31, 2026. The investigating officer concluded that the allegations of fraud and breach of trust were not established. The officer also found no evidence supporting the allegation that Tisha had threatened Sanaya, noting that in her final Messenger communication on November 10, 2025, Tisha had asked for an address to return the sari and wished Sanaya a good life.

The investigation report further said Sanaya was asked to provide documentary evidence supporting the allegations, including during the investigation and through a notice, but she did not submit documentary evidence to the investigating officer.

Sanaya, however, has disputed the findings. She said she had handed over witnesses and an audio recording of the alleged threats to police but claimed that the PBI submitted a report without properly explaining why the allegations were not proved. She said she would consult her lawyer and file a no-confidence petition against the investigation report.

The case was filed by Sanaya at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka on November 27, 2025, alleging that Tisha had taken a sari worth Tk 75,000 from her fashion house on December 13, 2024, for a programme and failed to return it as promised.

The complaint further alleged that Tisha had used abusive language and threatened Sanaya after she sought the sari’s return. Sanaya also alleged that Tisha later threatened to file a case against her and damage her reputation. She subsequently lodged a general diary (GD) with Gulshan Police Station.

The allegations remain disputed, while the PBI investigation report has concluded that the offences alleged in the case were not established based on the evidence collected.
