Take necessary measures for the rapid supply of electricity from RNPP: ICT minister

Minister of Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, held a bilateral meeting with Andrey Rozhdestvin, Director General of Rosatom Energy Projects Joint-Stock Company, a subsidiary of Russia's state atomic energy corporation Rosatom, to discuss various bilateral issues including the progress of construction work at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant on August 27 in Dhaka.

“The meeting focused on the necessary measures for the rapid supply of electricity from the plant to the national grid, and cooperation in the nuclear fuel and energy sectors,” government official said.

During the meeting, Minister of Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam apprised the Rosatom about the outcome of USA’s ATLAS event, held in Washington D.C.

The meeting also featured detailed discussions on the overall progress of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, the swift completion of remaining work, and the technical and coordination steps required to ensure the generated electricity is quickly fed into the national grid following the established procedures. 

During the meeting, the Minister of Science and Technology noted that the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant would play a vital role in meeting Bangladesh's growing electricity demand, ensuring energy security, and supporting long-term sustainable development. 

He emphasized the need for more effective coordination among all relevant parties to complete the remaining activities of the project swiftly and properly.

On his part, the Director General of Rosatom briefed the meeting on the progress of the Rooppur project and expressed interest in working closely with Bangladesh to advance the work across various phases of the project according to the scheduled plan.
