
Former inspector general of police (IGP) Enamul Haque has died at the age of 88.
He passed around 5:30am on Sunday at a hospital in Dhaka, according to a statement from the Police Headquarters.
Enamul was the uncle of Rehan Asif Asad, an advisor to the prime minister, who holds the rank of a state minister.
His Namaz-e-Janaza, or funeral prayer, will be held at Rajarbagh after Zuhr prayers, the statement said.
The former IGP served as a member of the Law Commission from 2004 to 2007. He served as inspector general of police from October 1991 to July 1992.
