Bangladesh received $2.83 billion in remittances in the first 30 days of August, up 26.9 per cent from the same period last year.
The amount was equivalent to Tk34,809 crore at an exchange rate of Tk123 per US dollar, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan said on Monday.
In the first 30 days of August last year, Bangladesh received $2.229 billion in remittances.
On August 30 alone, expatriate Bangladeshis sent home Tk1,980.3 crore in remittances.
During the first two months of the current fiscal year, from July 1 to August 30, remittance inflows reached $5.689 billion, compared with $4.707 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
