Investigators have begun questioning Siddhartha Das and Mugdha Das, two accused who have confessed to the killings of four members of a retired teacher’s family in Rangpur, at the Rangpur Central Jail gate following a court order.

At around noon on Tuesday, the investigation officer, Rangpur Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Jinnat Ali, alongwith another DB official, entered the jail premises to question the two accused.

On Monday afternoon, Judge Rafiqul Islam of Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2 authorised investigators to question the accused at the jail gate for three hours a day over two days.

The investigation officer had sought a three-day remand for the accused. However, as both men had already made confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the court did not grant a fresh police remand due to legal restrictions.
