Mustafa Monwar remembered on first birthday after his death

The 91st birth anniversary of renowned artist and cultural personality Mustafa Monwar is being marked on Tuesday with a special memorial programme in Dhaka.

The programme, organised by Multimedia Puppet Theatre, will begin at 7:00 PM at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. It is the first event marking his birth anniversary since his death on June 29.

Monwar was born in Jhenaidah on September 1, 1935.

The programme will pay tribute to his life, artistic achievements and contributions to Bangladesh's art and cultural arena. It will also feature dance, music and puppet performances by prominent artists.

His wife, Mary Monwar, who is also president of Multimedia Puppet Theatre, said the initiative aimed to introduce the artist's life and work to younger generations.

Mustafa Monwar made significant contributions to painting, children's programmes, television and cultural activities during his long career. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2004 in recognition of his contributions to art and culture.
