BNP works for soil and people of the country: State Minister

State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Faridpur-2 MP Shama Obayd Islam said the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has been working for the soil and people of Bangladesh for 48 years.

She made the remarks as the chief guest at an event marking the 48th founding anniversary of the BNP in Saltha, Faridpur, at 5:00 PM on Tuesday (September 1).

She added that the seeds of all development in the country over the last 48 years were sown by the BNP, with late President Ziaur Rahman being the central figure, a legacy that continues today.

She noted that the BNP took to the streets to bring down the autocratic regime. Criticizing the Awami regime, she alleged that extensive corruption occurred over the last 17 years, with ministers and MPs laundering money abroad to enjoy it.

Shama Obayd said the Yunus government made no development in the power and energy sector over a year and a half, whereas extensive development is taking place across all sectors under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.

She added that if everyone remains united regardless of party affiliation, Saltha and Nagarkanda will be developed into a model of progress, noting that electricity issues in the area have already been resolved.

Chaired by former Saltha Upazila BNP President Siddiqur Rahman Talukder and moderated by Joint General Secretary Khondokar Khairul Bashar Azad, the event was attended by District BNP Convener Advocate Modarres Ali Isha, former Nagarkanda Upazila BNP General Secretary Saifur Rahman Mukul, former Upazila Parishad Chairman Wahiduzzaman, former Vice Chairman Asad Matubbar, former Upazila BNP Vice President Shahin Matubbar, former Gatti Union Chairman Imamul Hossain Tara Miah, Jubo Dal leaders Enayet Hossain, Md Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Safiqul Islam, Miran Hossain, Balam Hossain, Mahfuz Khan, and Jasim Molla, Sechchhasebak Dal Joint Convener Kamrul Islam, Sramik Dal President Kalam Biswas, Arafat Rahman Koko Smriti Sangsad President Yasin Biswas, Chhatra Dal President Rezaul Islam Raj, and General Secretary Sohel Matubbar, among others.
