Bangladesh-India ties have progressed despite tensions: Speaker

Bangladesh National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has said relations between Bangladesh and India have progressed despite various tensions over the years.

He made the remarks when Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi met him at his office on Wednesday.

The Speaker said the historical relationship between the two countries had changed at different times depending on the circumstances.

He said the relationship should be based on ties between the peoples of the two countries, as well as mutual respect and respect for each other’s sovereignty.

Trivedi said India was interested in building people-centric relations between the two countries. He stressed the importance of people-to-people ties in meeting the aspirations of both nations.

During the meeting, they discussed parliamentary delegation exchanges, the Rohingya crisis and repatriation, and sports and cultural exchanges.

The Indian High Commissioner also invited Hafiz Uddin Ahmed to visit India on behalf of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and stressed the importance of exchanges between parliamentary delegations of the two countries.
