Ctg Jamaat holds prep meeting 

 
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Chattogram city unit on Tuesday held a preparatory meeting for its Dhaka-Chattogram Long March and rally at Laldighi Maidan scheduled for September 5.

The programme will press for the implementation of the referendum result, trial of the July killings and an end to the shortages of power, fuel, gas and fertiliser, among other demands. 

Foysal Muhammad Yunus, a member of the party’s central Majlis-e-Shura and assistant secretary of its Chattogram city unit, chaired the meeting.

Principal Muhammad Nurul Amin, secretary of the city Jamaat and convener of the Long March Implementation Committee, attended the programme as the chief guest. 

Speakers at the meeting said people were suffering from shortages of power, fuel, gas and fertiliser, while rising prices of essential commodities and a deteriorating law-and-order situation had added to public hardship.

Among others, city Jamaat Assistant Secretary Morshedul Islam Chowdhury, Organising Secretary Principal Shamsuzzaman Helali and Muminul Haque, president of Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Chattogram North city unit, were present.
