A collapsed road and bridge in Bangchhari Natun Para under Kaptai Union of Rangamati have triggered severe suffering for over 1,500 residents.
The only access road for the village caved in due to heavy rainfall nearly two months ago. Bangchhari Double Bridge and Natun Para road serve hundreds of commuters daily, while also acting as the primary route for transporting jhum crops and vegetables to local markets. Students, elderly residents, and patients face immense hardship every day due to the persistent lack of repairs.
About 100 families consisting of more than 1,500 residents live in the area, all relying exclusively on this damaged road. Mouza Headman Suichimong Marma and local Karbari Mongsila urged the administration to carry out immediate repair work to restore basic mobility.
Local residents Sui Pru Marma and Uchipru Marma shared that commuting with school-going children and elderly or sick family members has become extremely difficult, calling for swift reconstruction of the road.
Ward No. 5 Union Parishad Member Md. Iman Ali confirmed inspecting the site and executing minor temporary fixes, while reporting the issue to the Union Parishad Chairman and local administration for a permanent solution.
