THAKURGAON, Sept 3: Three children drowned in separate incidents in two rivers in the district on Wednesday.
Two children, Kawsar Ali, 5, and Reheshan, 4, drowned in the Tirnai River in Jagdal Village of Ranisankail Upazila, police said. The children had been playing near their homes when they went to the riverbank without their families’ knowledge, according to police and relatives.

They were reported missing after their families could not find them. Local residents later recovered their bodies from the river, police said.

OC of Ranisankail Police Station (PS) Amanullah Al Bari said the families had filed no complaints. Authorities have sought permission from the additional district magistrate to allow the bodies to be buried without autopsies, he said.

On the other hand, 5-year-old Md Hossain drowned in the Bhulli River near a new bridge in Bangrot Village of Bhulli Upazila, police said.

Hossain had gone to the river with other children to play when he slipped and fell into the water. Relatives and local residents later recovered his body.

Bhulli PS OC Noor Alam Siddiqui said the family had filed no complaint.
