Police attacked as ‘Top Criminal’ Baga escapes through secret tunnel

Police came under attack while trying to arrest top criminal Wakil Hossain alias Baga, 42, from Khulshi area of Chattogram in the early hours of Friday morning.

His followers were accused of blocking roads and assaulting the police with bricks and bombs. Six members of the police force, including Khulshi OC, were reportedly injured while one of the vehicles was damaged.

In their operation against Baga, police discovered a secret tunnel in his residence through which he managed to escape along with his family members.

Baga is charged in more than 17 cases relating to extortion, drugs, grabbing land and bomb charges. Recently, he had been accused in an abduction and assault case of a college lecturer.
