Minister’s nephew found dead on road, family suspects murder

A 40-year-old health assistant was found dead with injuries on the Sakhipur-Basail road near Naluya Bazar in Tangail yesterday (September 2).

The deceased, Awal Shafik, was the son of late freedom fighter Mosharraf Hossain of Boali village and the nephew of Tangail-8 MP and Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan.

According to police, relatives, Awal went to EPI center at Jadabpur Union in the morning time and was coming back in the afternoon by motorcycle. Later on his dead body was found on the road. One side of his head is crushed while there was a cut mark on his neck. Motorcycle remained safe without any sign of collision.

The family members believe in murder. Awal’s wife, Tania Akter has lodged a murder case against unknown people today.
