‎Bangladesh lose to China despite taking the Lead

‎Bangladesh suffered a 3-2 defeat to hosts China in their opening match of the AHF U-20 Hockey Tournament in China on Friday, despite taking a 2-1 lead into halftime.

‎Bangladesh’s hockey teams are currently going through a busy schedule. The men’s and women’s U-20 teams are in China for the AHF U-20 tournament, while the senior national team is preparing for the Asian Games in Japan.

‎China took the lead in the sixth minute through a penalty corner. Bangladesh quickly restored parity, with Din Islam scoring a field goal to make it 1-1. The first quarter ended level.

‎Bangladesh then took the lead in the 26th minute when Mehedi Hasan scored a field goal, sending his side into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.

‎China equalised late in the third quarter, again from a penalty corner. Bangladesh pushed for a winning goal in the final quarter, but instead conceded again in the 53rd minute as China regained the lead.

‎Despite their efforts, Bangladesh could not find an equaliser in the remaining seven minutes and had to leave the field empty-handed.
‎
‎Bangladesh’s U-20 women’s team will face Chinese Taipei tomorrow, while the men’s team will take on Malaysia the following day. Besides China, Bangladesh’s other opponents in the men’s competition are Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

‎Finishing sixth in the tournament would give Bangladesh another opportunity to qualify for the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup.
