Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna has underscored the need for humble, competent and enlightened leadership to build a Bangladesh where every citizen can live with dignity, security and a sense of collective belonging.
“I believe that we will get the country that 180-200 million people of Bangladesh have hoped for so far, the country for which so many people have given their lives,” he said.
Manna made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion marking the 27th death anniversary of former BNP Secretary General Barrister Abdus Salam Talukder on Friday.
Jamalpur Samity organised the discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.
Referring to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Manna said humility was indispensable in political leadership.
