The government needs time to deliver visible development as it has taken charge only six months ago, Water Resources Minister Md Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee said on Friday.

He said, “The BNP government has taken charge of running the country only six months ago. It should not be expected that all the problems of the past 17 years will be solved within six months.”

Addressing the opposition, the minister urged them to give the government time to bring visible development to the country.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a cleanliness drive at Rahmatkhali Canal in Lakshmipur Municipality on Friday.

Anee said the previous fascist government had left state institutions weak and ineffective. He said the fragile economy has now started to recover to some extent.

The current government has taken specific plans for development activities in various sectors, he said, adding that implementing these plans will take some time.

“People have already started receiving the benefits of development in some areas,” the minister said.
