Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman warned that the ongoing movement would be intensified if the government failed to take immediate and visible steps to address the country’s gas and electricity crisis.
He made the remarks on Saturday (September 5) while addressing a roadside rally as the road march convoy reached Cumilla's Daudkandi.
Dr Shafiqur said uninterrupted supplies of gas and electricity must be ensured immediately to allow people to maintain their normal daily lives.
Thousands of leaders and activists of the 11-party alliance attended the rally, chanting various anti-government slogans and creating a charged atmosphere in the area.
The long convoy of vehicles carrying the participants and the large gathering of activists caused significant excitement and tension around the Daudkandi highway area.
Movement will continue until people’s rights are established, Shafiqur Rahman at long march
