The defence has applied for the transfer of the case filed over the killing of former Teknaf municipal councillor Ekramul Haque from the International Crimes Tribunal to a regular judicial court.
Three former military officers and former lawmaker Abdur Rahman Badi were produced before the tribunal on Monday in connection with the case filed on allegations of crimes against humanity over Ekramul’s killing.
Earlier, on August 25, ICT-2 ordered former MP Abdur Rahman Badi and three army officers-- Brigadier General Md Mahbub Alam, Brigadier General Miftah Uddin Ahmed and Colonel (retd) Anwar Latif Khan-- to be shown arrested and sent to jail.
The tribunal also ordered the publication of newspaper notices asking seven absconding accused, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to surrender before the court in the same case.
