Army holds medical campaign in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, Sept 7: A medical camp was held in the district on Sunday to provide free health services and raise health awareness among local Indigenous and Bengali communities, the Bangladesh Army said.

Lt Col Ekramul Rahat, commander of the Rangamati Sadar Zone, inaugurated the camp at the Sapchhari Union Parishad office.

The day-long camp provided free medical consultations, diagnostic tests and medicines to several hundred women, men and children, organisers said.

Lt Col Ekramul Rahat said the army has worked to promote peace and improve living conditions and health care in the hill region. Providing medical services to marginalised people who have limited access to advanced treatment because of distance is a key objective, he said.

He said the army would continue humanitarian and public welfare programs alongside efforts to maintain law and order and support development in the region.

Local elected representatives, civil society members and senior army officials attended the opening. Residents expressed appreciation for the free services.
