Police-Magistracy confce held in Pabna to identify obstacles to fair trials

PABNA, Sept 7: The Police-Magistracy Conference-2026 was held at the initiative of Pabna Judicial Magistracy to identify obstacles and ways to overcome them in ensuring speedy and fair trials in criminal cases.
 
The conference was held on Sunday in the conference room of Pabna Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court. Pabna Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Jahangir Hossain presided over it. Superintendent of Police (SP) Abu Ashraf, Additional District Magistrate Liton Dhali, magistrates of the Judicial Magistracy, Public Prosecutor Golam Sarowar Khan Jewel, President of Pabna Bar Association Khandaker Maksudur Rahman Masud, and Secretary of Pabna Bar Association Malay Kumar Das Roy were present at the conference. Representatives from the Civil Surgeon, Pabna; Assistant Director, 250-bed General Hospital, Pabna; and Divisional Head, Forensic Medicine, Pabna Medical College Hospital were present. 

Department of Narcotics Control, Safe Food Authority, Department of Consumer Rights, Probation Officer, and Department of Social Services at the district level, along with court inspectors and officers-in-charge of various police stations in the district, participated in the conference. 

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Morshedul Alam delivered the welcome speech. Judicial Magistrate Shammi Akhter moderated the program. After the welcome speech, Senior Judicial Magistrate Matiur Rahman and Mohammad Shihab Uddin presented a discussion on statistical evaluation of cases and speeding up summary trials and food courts to increase settlements.

 The conference held an open discussion on existing problems and possible solutions to increase the effectiveness of the criminal justice system, better organise police activities in judicial matters, and improve coordination among various justice-related institutions to ensure speedy justice. Representatives of all participating institutions spontaneously expressed their opinions in the discussion. At the conference, SP Abu Ashraf highly appreciated such police-magistracy conference for increasing the dynamics of judicial activities.
