Raphinha scores twice as Barcelona demolishes Feyenoord

Barcelona kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory over Dutch side Feyenoord on Wednesday (September 9), led by a double from Brazilian forward Raphinha.
Karim Adeyemi, Lamine Yamal, and summer signing Gabriel Jesus also featured on the scoresheet for the Catalan club, while Sem Steijn scored the solitary goal for Feyenoord.
Raphinha opened the scoring in the third minute, executing a clinical finish past two defenders inside the penalty box. The strike marked his eighth goal across five appearances in all competitions this season.
Adeyemi doubled Barcelona's lead shortly after, curling a long-range effort past Feyenoord goalkeeper Tjark Ernst.
Feyenoord mounted limited counterattacks, with Anis Hadj Moussa testing Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García, while Barça's João Cancelo saw his shot strike the outside of the post after beating Gjivai Zechiël.
Raphinha completed his brace in the 57th minute, running onto a through-ball from Pedri to beat Ernst.
Feyenoord's Nael Huard had a goal disallowed for offside following a VAR review before Yamal extended the lead to 4-0 with a direct free-kick that breached the defensive wall.
Steijn pulled one back for Feyenoord in the 82nd minute, tapping in a low cross from Gonçalo Borges at the far post.
However, substitute Gabriel Jesus sealed the 5-1 victory for Barcelona, heading home a cross from Yamal to register his first goal for the club following his summer arrival from Arsenal.
The victory extends Barcelona's perfect start to the season under manager Hansi Flick, securing five wins from five matches across all competitions, having scored five goals in four of those fixtures.
