The third session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad concluded on Thursday (September 10), featuring the passage of six bills and the formation of 35 parliamentary committees.

Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivered the valedictory address on the closing day of the session, following remarks by Leader of the Opposition Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The third session had convened on August 27, 2026.

Prior to reading out the President’s prorogation order, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikrom, expressed gratitude for the smooth and successful completion of the parliamentary proceedings. He commended lawmakers for their active participation and contributions toward national issues and legislative tasks.

"Difference of opinion is a natural aspect of a democratic parliamentary system," Speaker Ahmad stated, emphasizing the need for members to maintain mutual respect and a cordial atmosphere while expressing dissenting views. He added that such practices strengthen democratic culture.

Referencing the Prime Minister's call for all political sides to avoid abusive political discourse, the Speaker expressed hope that lawmakers would strictly adhere to parliamentary rules, customs, and decorum in future sessions while prioritizing the national interest.

Reviewing the legislative outcome, the Speaker noted that six bills were introduced and successfully passed during the session that commenced on August 27. Additionally, 35 parliamentary committees were established or reconstituted, along with the reorganization of one special committee.

Regarding parliamentary questions, lawmakers submitted 144 questions addressed to the Prime Minister, of which 15 were answered on the floor. A total of 2,676 questions were submitted for various ministry heads, with ministers delivering answers to 1,678 questions during the session.

Speaker Ahmad concluded by thanking Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the Leader of the Opposition, Cabinet members, the Chief Whip, the Opposition Chief Whip, and all participating lawmakers for their cooperation in managing parliamentary operations.
