Three Fatullah unions proposed for NCC

NARAYANGANJ: The district administration has recommended including the entire areas of Fatullah, Kutubpur and Enayetnagar unions under Fatullah Police Station in the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC).
However, Kashipur Union, which was included in an earlier proposal, has been dropped from the latest recommendation.

The recommendation was made in a report signed by Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Md Raihan Kabir on September 7 and sent to the Local Government Division.

According to the report, a public notice was issued regarding the proposed expansion of the NCC boundary in accordance with the Local Government (City Corporation) Boundary Change (Expansion and Contraction) Rules, 2013.

Public hearings were held on July 27 and August 11 following the notice. Based on the hearings, an inspection committee was formed to assess the proposed areas.

The committee conducted field inspections and submitted a report, including drone footage. Based on the public hearings and inspection findings, the district administration recommended that the entire areas of Fatullah, Kutubpur and Enayetnagar unions could be included in the city corporation under Rule 3 of the relevant regulations.

The district administration said the areas were suitable for inclusion in the city corporation considering their population, occupations, industrial establishments, infrastructure and public opinion.
However, the latest report did not recommend including any part of Kashipur Union in the NCC.

The earlier public notice had proposed including the entire areas of Wards 8 and 9 of Kashipur Union in the city corporation.

The previous proposal for expanding the NCC boundary had sought to include the entire area of one union and parts of three other unions under Sadar Upazila.

After being appointed as the boundary determination officer on July 7, the deputy commissioner issued a public notice inviting objections and suggestions from residents of the proposed areas.
According to that notice, the entire areas of Wards 1 to 9 of Kutubpur Union were proposed for inclusion in the NCC.

It also proposed including the entire areas of Wards 7, 8 and 9 and parts of Wards 5 and 6 of Fatullah Union; the entire areas of Wards 8 and 9 of Kashipur Union; and part of Ward 8 of Enayetnagar Union.

Following the public hearings and field inspections, the district administration changed the proposal and recommended the inclusion of the entire areas of Fatullah, Kutubpur and Enayetnagar unions.

As a result, the proposed Kashipur portion has been dropped.

The report has been sent to the secretary of the Local Government Division for necessary action.
