SAPAHAR, NAOGAON, Sept 14: A total of 285kg of fish fry was released in 20 institutional ponds and other water bodies in Sapahar Upazila under a government programme for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The fish fry release programme, organised by the upazila fisheries office, was inaugurated at the Upazila Parishad pond at around 11 am on Sunday. Later, fish fry were also released in a pond on the Sapahar Police Station premises.
Under the programme, fry of rohu, catla and mrigal were released in 20 institutions and water bodies across the upazila.
Naogaon-1 MP Md Mostafizur Rahman attended the programme as the chief guest, while Sapahar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Romana Riaz chaired it.
Upazila Fisheries Officer Shamim Reza, Sapahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shaheen Reza and Upazila BNP General Secretary Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury Labu, among others, were present.
