Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has said police and the media are partners in serving the public interest.

He made the remarks at a programme in Segunbagicha on Wednesday, organised by the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) to mark its 43rd founding anniversary.

The DMP chief said crime reporters have played an important role for more than four decades in informing people about law and order, crime control and the work of law enforcement agencies.

He said police and the media have a shared responsibility to protect public safety and fight crime.

Referring to new challenges such as technology-based crimes and online fraud, Mosleh Uddin stressed the need for truthful, objective and responsible journalism to raise public awareness.

He hoped cooperation and trust between the DMP and the media would grow stronger in the future.

The commissioner also thanked those who contributed to CRAB over the past 43 years and wished the organisation continued success.
