RAB raided a factory producing counterfeiting fertilizer and pesticides inside an orchard in Tala, Satkhira; the trader involved, Moshiar, was fined Tk. 50,000 and sentenced to one month in jail.
A mobile court has sentenced Moshiar Rahman, the businessman and owner of the factory, to one month in prison and fined him Tk.50,000 for the production and marketing of counterfeit and adulterated fertilizers and pesticides in Lautara village, Tala Upazila, Satkhira.
On Wednesday morning, a RAB operational team raided a clandestine factory located within an orchard in a remote area of Tala, and seized the counterfeit products. During the raid, sacks, labels, and packaging materials for the fake and adulterated fertilizers and pesticides were confiscated from the premises.
After seizing approximately Tk.5 lakh worth of adulterated fertilizers, pesticides, and production materials, the mobile court ordered the destruction of the seized products.
Tala Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Jannatul Afroz Swarna stated that Moshiar Rahman was detained for producing and marketing counterfeit and adulterated fertilizers and pesticides in Lautara village; the mobile court subsequently imposed the fine and prison sentence. Such drives against adulterated fertilizers and pesticides will continue in the public interest.
Personnel from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Tala Police Station participated in the operation alongside RAB.
