Tigers set for first-ever bilateral series in Nepal

Bangladesh are set to make history by playing their first-ever bilateral series on Nepalese soil, with the Tigers scheduled to face Nepal in a three-match T20I series in Kathmandu in March 2027.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the tour in a press release on Wednesday (September 16), announcing matches on March 26, 28 and 30 at a venue in Kathmandu.

The series will have a humanitarian dimension, with the matches to be dedicated to those affected by Nepal’s recent devastating floods. The BCB said the proceeds from the series will also be used to support flood victims.

The tour is also aimed at strengthening cricketing ties between the two countries. The series was discussed during a recent meeting between Youth and Sports State Minister Md Aminul Haque and Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari.

Continuing the initiative, Bhandari visited the BCB on Wednesday and met BCB President Tamim Iqbal. They discussed the proposed series and ways to expand cricketing cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal.

Bangladesh and Nepal have faced each other twice in T20Is, both at the World Cup, with Bangladesh winning on both occasions.
