Merit must prevail in teacher recruitment: President

President and Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stressed giving the highest priority to merit and qualifications in teacher recruitment and all other areas of the university.

He made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan at Bangabhaban on Thursday (September 17).

During the meeting, the President emphasized further improving the quality and excellence of education and research at the university.

“Merit and qualifications must be given the highest priority in all areas, including teacher recruitment,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor briefed the President on the university’s overall academic activities, education and research initiatives.

Professor Kamrul Ahsan also formally invited the President, in his capacity as Chancellor, to attend the proposed convocation of Jahangirnagar University scheduled for April next year.
