A new provision under the National Pay Scale 2026 sets a minimum service period of four to 20 years for government employees promoted to higher grades to receive the full salary of their new posts.

Government employees promoted to higher posts and pay scales will not automatically receive the full salary of the new post under the National Pay Scale 2026, as they must complete a specified period of service.

Under the gazette, employees promoted to Grade 1 will need 20 years of service to receive the full salary of the grade, whose pay scale is Tk 1,56,000.

For Grade 2, the required service period is 17 years, with a pay scale of Tk 1,32,000 to Tk 1,53,000.

The requirement is 14 years for Grade 3, 12 years for Grade 4 and 10 years for Grade 5.

Employees promoted to Grade 6 will need five years of service, while those promoted to Grade 7 will need four years.

Thus, the new provision makes the length of service a condition for receiving the full salary after promotion to Grades 1 to 7.
