A ferry terminal at Daulatdia in Rajbari has been temporarily closed due to low navigability in the Padma River.

Terminal No. 7 was closed from early Friday as ferries were facing difficulties berthing there due to insufficient water depth, said Mohammad Salahuddin, AGM of the BIWTC Daulatdia ferry terminal branch, on Saturday.

He said the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) had been informed that dredging was needed to restore navigability at the terminal.

However, passenger and vehicle movement remains normal through terminals No. 3 and 4, with no reported traffic congestion or suffering in the area.

Of the 18 ferries operating on the route, 12 are currently in service, Salahuddin said.
